Pt. Ayodhya Singh Upadhyaya Hariaudh

Ayodhya Prasad was born at Nizamabad, Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. His father’s name was Pandit Bholanath Upadhyay & his mother’s name was Rukmini Devi. His early education was in Nizamabad and Azamgarh. At the age of five he started learning Persian from his uncle.

After passing middle exam at Nizamabad he moved to Kashi to study English at Queen’s College; however he had to leave college in between due to deteriorating health. He then studied Sanskrit, Urdu, Persian and English at home and in 1884 became a teacher in middle school at Nizamabad. He was married to Ms. Anand Kumari at an age of 17 in 1872.

He got a government job in 1889. After retiring from the post in 1932 he worked in Hindi Department of Banaras Hindu University for several years as a volunteer teacher. He worked there till the year 1941 and then moved back to Nizamabad. After getting relieved from teaching assignment ‘Hariaudh ji’ remained engaged in literary-service at village. His literature-service earned him considerable fame. He died in 1947 at Nizamabad.


An Overview of the School

Kavi Samrat Shri Hariaudh Balika Inter College established in 1972 is recognized by the U.P. Govt. upto 12th in science and art stream. and it is in the process to get the affiliation of C.B.S.E. New Delhi for its English Medium School. It was established with a mission to enlighten the lamp of education in every corner of the district. At that time here was no other school or college to impart girl education. The main aim of the school is to make the girls educated from all the different corners of the district as well as from outside the district. The school is located in a historical town Nizamabad in the district of Azamgarh, about 15 Km. from Azamgarh city. It is spread over a vast area of land in a serene and pollutionfree atmosphere. The school has an impressive building with full infrastructure which includes well equipped class rooms, Submersible pumps, auditorium etc. All the class rooms are airy and well ventilated along with electric fans.
